Six Things: Jennifer
One of the best things about working at Randall Branding is building relationships with great people. We love it when our clients share their world with us. And in the interest of returning the favor, we’ll be sharing parts of our weird and wonderful world with you here.
Six things you may not know about Jennifer, our Vice President/Business Development Manager and Strategic Planner.
1. Born and raised in Texas (actually a stone’s throw from where the Cowboys played). But most of my time was in Amarillo – 16 hours from the Gulf of Mexico and even farther from the oceans. I experienced my first bite of crab cake in VA, and now I’m totally hooked on any well prepared crab dish.. I rarely eat the Texas beef I was raised on.
2. By coincidence, I lived in Randall County for more than 13 years and graduated from Randall High School – so maybe Jesse’s family has some relatives who relocated to Texas 200+ years ago?
3. I met my husband at the 1999 Strawberry Hill horse races . Many in RVA can boast that they attended Strawberry Hill and never saw a horse race. I did see a few horses race, but people watching was the best spectator sport at track.
4. I danced for the Lone Star Ballet, a regional dance company. Because I was my full height of 5’11” at 14, I typically danced with the university dancers vs. students my age. This drove my desire to try and be as good as the adult dancers. Our director, the late Neil Hess, inspired all of his dancers to appreciate the beauty, elegance and importance of all fine arts that I carry to this day.
5. Yearbooks are what moved me to Virginia. While working as marketing director for the Texas Tech yearbook, I was recruited into sales/account mgt. and moved half way across the country. My first visit to VA was Oct. ’98 and I was astounded by the range of colors in the fall foliage. Driving down a winding road during my travels made me feel like I was in a car commercial with the leaves flying behind me. At that moment I knew Virginia was my new home. I’m a proud Texan by birth, but a Virginian by choice.
6. I am serving my penance to my former yearbook students, advisors and publishers. I’m a volunteer creating and editing my children’s elementary yearbook for the past 2 years. Our son and daughter enjoy looking at all of their yearbooks often and remembering small details unique to that year of school.
